What We Collect

Anonymous players: We assign a random identifier stored in a browser cookie so your game progress persists between visits. We do not collect your name, email, or any personal information until you register.

Registered players: When you create an account, we store your chosen handle, display name, and a hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we also store your Google account email and a Google identifier — we never see or store your Google password.

Gameplay data: We store your game sessions, scores, words played, claims, credit transactions, and XP history. This data powers leaderboards, profiles, and the in-game economy.

How We Use It

Your data is used to run the game — authenticate you, save your progress, display leaderboards, calculate royalties, and show your profile to other players. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Cookies

We use the following cookies:

  • Authentication cookie — keeps you signed in between visits.
  • Anonymous identity cookie — links your browser to your anonymous player account so game history is preserved.
  • Theme preference — remembers your dark/light mode choice.
  • Antiforgery token — protects against cross-site request forgery.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

Third-Party Services

Google Sign-In: If you choose to sign in with Google, your authentication is handled by Google. We receive your name and email from Google but do not share your Wordagio data back to Google.

Azure: Wordagio is hosted on Microsoft Azure. Your data is stored in Azure SQL Database and Azure App Service. Microsoft’s privacy practices apply to infrastructure-level data processing.

Google Fonts: We load the Nunito font from Google Fonts. Google may log font requests per their privacy policy.

Data Retention

Anonymous accounts with no game activity are automatically deleted after 7 days. Registered accounts are retained until you delete them. Game history (scores, words) is retained indefinitely to support leaderboards and statistics.

Your Rights

You can delete your account at any time from the settings page. Deletion scrubs all personal information (handle, display name, email, password, Google identity). Aggregate gameplay data (scores, word statistics) is retained but is no longer linked to your identity.

Children

Wordagio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
